  • Paris :  Tuesday November 15th, Wednesday November 16th and Thursday November 17th
  • Brussels :  Saturday November 19th
  • Tunis : Monday November 21st and Tuesday November 22nd

Greetings from Paris!

1. This year's edition of "Destination Canada - Job Fair" will take place in Paris on November 15th, 16th and 17th, in Brussels on November 19th and in Tunis on November 21st and 22nd

2. For this new edition, I am very pleased to announce 2 immigration initiatives of Citizenship and Immigration Canada and Service Canada, specific to Destination Canada, which will help employers attract and recruit French-speaking foreign nationales in a streamlined and accelerated manner.  This initiative reflects the Government of Canada’s commitment to promote linguistic duality and supports the objectives of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act to enrich the bilingual character of Canada and assist the development of minority official language communities in Canada.

i) Labour Market Opinion (LMO) exemptions will be considered for Temporary Work Permit applications in managerial, professional or technical occupations and skilled trades (Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification - NOC) for French-speaking candidates recruited through Destination Canada for a position in a province or territory other than Quebec.  We will communicate with you if such an LMO exemption applies to the jobs you post.

ii) For permanent employment in a managerial, professional or technical occupation or skilled trade, for French-speaking candidates recruited through Destination Canada for a position in a province or territory other than Quebec, a facilitated process will be offered.  This will allow candidates to benefit from  priority processing of the Federal Skilled Worker application.  We will communicate with you if the jobs you post qualify for the facilitative immigration processes and explain how to contact Service Canada to that effect.

3. This will be the 8th edition of Destination Canada, a promotion and recruitment event which has become the forum in France and Belgium for information about working and living in Canada. For the 3rd year, Canadian employers will have the option of continuing on to Tunis to meet more pre-selected candidates.

4. "Destination Canada" is organized by the Embassy of Canada in France and the Embassy of Canada in Tunisia with support from the International Region of Citizenship and Immigration Canada and in partnership with public agencies for employment and international mobility: Pôle Emploi International in France, FOREM, ACTIRIS and VDAB in Belgium, ANETI in Tunisia.Information about services offered year-round by these agencies is available on their Websites: http://www.pole-emploi-international.fr/www.leforem.be, www.actiris.be, www.vdab.be, http://www.emploi.nat.tn/.

5. Citizenship and Immigration Canada receives annual funding which must be utilized to support the recruitment and integration of French-speaking immigrants to francophone minority linguistic communities. "Destination Canada - Job Fair" is made possible through this funding.Attendance at the2010 edition of Destination Canada reached a record high.  It has become necessary to maintain a balance between the number of candidates and the number of Canadian representatives and employers, and to recentre the activity on the objective of support to francophone minority communities. In that context, it has been decided that for the next edition participationof Quebec employers will be limitedto those companies who are offering jobs in other provinces and territories as well.

6. On Monday, November 14th, an important preparatory meeting will be held at the Embassy in Paris for the Canadian delegation and partners.

7. There will be no participation fee for Canadian participants, be they representatives of governments or organizations, or employers. The space and furniture, electricity and internet connections will be provided.  There is no participation fee for the candidates either.

8. In addition, taking into account current economic pressures, we will once again this year cover the cost of local travel in Paris and Brussels and between the 2 cities,  as well as transportation of display material.  Costs not covered by the organizers are air travel to France, transportation from the airport to the hotel at the beginning and end of the stay, hotel and meals, as well as shipping of material for the fair.

9. The Megatour travel agency  will offer an accommodation package, including hotel and breakfast in Paris and Brussels, at the rate of 1245 euros (less than 1800 $CAD).  Ground transportation will be from those hotels. Reservations are now open on www.megatour.com/canada
