Employing Temporary Foreign Workers
Every year, Canadian employers bring foreign workers to Canada to work temporarily to help offset skill shortages and workforce needs. In 2006, over 120,000 temporary foreign workers entered Canada on a temporary basis. The final figures for 2007 are expected to be higher than those of 2006, and in 2008 the final figures are expected to surpass those of 2007. This clearly demonstrates Canada's increasing dependence on temporary foreign workers to fulfill its labour market demands.
